Aurora floating at the Secret Lagoon
Truly magical feeling! Float in a natural hot spring in a small village called Fludir, about one hour drive from Reykjavik, and watch the aurora borealis dance for you while listening to the music of Sigur Ros from a underwater speaker
This is a once in a lifetime experience. You will go with a super jeep to a small village named Fludir and visit the Secret Lagoon. It is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland and made in the year of 1891. It was used until 1947 to teach the locals to swim but fell into oblivion when a new fancy swimming pool was opened at Fludir. It has now been through renovation and reopened. A truly magical place with many small Geysers (Vaðmálahver, Litli Geysir, Básahver) around it – that erupt every 5 minutes!
At the swimming pool you will be provided with a floating cap and support for your legs, so you can float in the warm water (38-40 Celsius) and watch the aurora borealis dance for you. Of course we don’t know if the aurora will be visible, it depends on so many factors – like clouds & solar storm – but if it does not show up you got at least a truly amazing water experience you will remember your whole life. In addition to the floating you will be offered geothermally baked bread and also you will get a chance to boil your own eggs in a geothermal hot spring.
In the lagoon will be a underwater loudspeaker and you will be listening to relaxing music such as the Icelandic Sigur Ros or Olafur Arnalds. Truly magical experience to float in the lagoon and listening to music at the same time. Talking about relaxation!
You can buy beer & wine at the Secret Lagoon to “amplify” the truly magical water experience and if you want to plan something special, like a proposal, that can be arranged.
