Kerlingarfjöll & Golden Circle
DAY TOUR – Kerlingjarfjöll are a hidden gem in the highlands that only a few people know about. You will see and experience glaciers, wonderful ravines and passes, hot springs and still pools that you can soak in. In addition to the hidden paradise, you will experience the classical Golden Circle route.
The Central Highlands of Iceland is one of the beautiful places in the country despite being deserted as it is filled with glaciers, deserts and hot springs. One of the places to visit is the Kerlingarfjöll highlands where hot springs and various color formations are found. It is the favorite place tourists go to because they feel exclusive, serene and peaceful as there are no signs of overcrowding for the whole day. In the afternoon, we will visit the popular Golden Circle sites when most of the tour companies have left the sites so you can have the place to yourself. So, if you have an adventurous and explorer’s mindset, this tour is highly recommended. Also, if you’re on a budget, but want to see the beauties of Iceland in just a short period of time, this one day tour to Kerlingarfjöll and the Golden Circle route is the best for you.

For the day tour, we start in the morning by exploring the Gullfoss waterfall, also known as the Golden Waterfall. Afterwards, we drive to the Kjölur highland route where the tour guide will tell you interesting tales of the surroundings. Once we reach Kerlingarfjöll, we will enjoy our lunch (meals not included) before hiking to the hot spring area. The hike will take about two hours. We will explore the area and admire the color formations and contrast of the mountains. During the hike and tour, you are allowed to stop to savor the view and take pictures.
On our way back to Reykjavik, we will visit Strokkur hot spring in the Geysir area. Our final stop will be at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will take a walk and enjoy the incredible landscape and history.

Departure from Harpa Concert Hall (in downtown) at 8:00 AM. Pickup from accommodation starts at 7:30 AM.

Always bring along some thermal or warm clothes such as wool or fleece material because Iceland’s weather is rather erratic at times. Those who have Acrophobia- Fear of heights, are not advised to take this tour.
